PEN International is partnering with Roundhouse London on the 2016 - 2017 Talking Doorsteps project, which works with young people all over the world to explore themes of home and belonging. This project involves a week long poetry workshop, during which the young poets taking part write and film an original poem about home.
Earlier this year, and in collaboration with English PEN, Scottish PEN, and PEN Honduras, Roundhouse and PEN International delivered this project with three groups of young people, some of whom had experienced forced displacement, and some of whom hadn't. The workshop week provided a rich and nurturing space for these young writers to develop their work, as well as to explore together what it is that makes home, home. You can watch the video on this page to learn more about our time in Honduras, and keep an eye on our blog as the poets' poems will be published as short films over the coming weeks.
This project will culminate in London in June, as we bring together two participants from each country involved in the project, including Abu Dhabi and Trinidad, where the Roundhouse delivered these workshops independently. Check out the brilliant work of all these amazing young writers at the Roundhouse London on 9 June.
