One of our projects, which is supported by PEN international, involves running cultural activities through theatre workshops and open readings, given by displaced writers. These are attended by Lebanese writers and artists, as well as writers and artists from Palestine and Syria who’ve also experienced forced displacement. The writers speak about their literature in schools, in the local Lebanese community in Beirut, and in other Lebanese regions. Those writers who perform also take part in literary readings in book fairs and on stage.
The main aims of this project are to build cohesion through dialogue and networks across cultures.
PEN Lebanon was founded in 2012 by several Lebanese writers to promote freedom of expression and literature.
